Soon to be ex-Senator Rick Santorum is convinced that only white male fundamentalist rightwing radical Republican neanderthals like himself deserve to run America. In his view women should just keep their mouths shut, stay home, raise kids, and not follow the "radical feminists" and seek employment outside the house. He is clearly afraid of strong, independent women, just like so many other of these overgrown conservative boys who wrongly call themselves men. Evidently, even some Republican women in Pennsylvania are getting sick of Little Ricky's bullshit. Key sections:
Santorum was host to a "Professional Women's Conference on the Hill" and invited 3,000 community leaders, university officials, and other women from Pennsylvania. About 90 women attended. [90 attended out of 3,000 invited?? Whooeee.)
Some women had copies of Santorum's book, but few of those interviewed had read it. Published last year, It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good criticized working mothers and two-income families.

In it, Santorum wrote: "For some parents, the purported need to provide things for their children simply provides a convenient rationalization for pursuing a gratifying career outside the home. Many women... find it easier, more 'professionally' gratifying, and certainly more socially affirming, to work outside the home... . Here, we can thank the influence of radical feminism."
Donna Wright, a Republican township supervisor from Lower Milford, Lehigh County, said she was familiar with those comments and was displeased with them.
"Women are entitled to their choice, whether they become professionals or stay home," she said after the forum. "I don't appreciate anyone, public figure or not, telling anyone what they can and cannot do."
Why, what are you talking about, lady? How dare you seek any kind of affirmation other than being a Mommy.
Who the hell does this asshole Santorum think he is?
If it were up to conservatives, women would never have even won the right to vote or been anything but the property of their husbands. If rightwingers get their way now even women who have been raped and impregnated by their own fathers will be forced to bear children and birth control will be outlawed.
IT IS THE CONSERVATIVES WHO ARE THE RADICALS. Santorum is among the very worst of them. Santorum views women as children who have to have their lives dictated to them. It's time the women--and the real men--of Pennsylvania kicked his smug, self-righteous ass right out the door.
