The conservative Republicans in Congress DON'T GIVE A DAMN that a lot of people are being crushed by the costs of health care, even if they are insured.
The conservative Republicans in Congress DON'T GIVE A DAMN about the people who are suffering from TREATABLE or PREVENTABLE illnesses and injuries.
The conservative Republicans in Congress DON'T GIVE A DAMN about the 20,000 people or more who die in this country EVERY YEAR from a lack of health insurance. Their priority is defeating a major initiative by President Obama, and they couldn't possibly care less for the "losers" who die at the hands of our "murder by spreadsheet" insurance industry.
The conservative Republicans in Congress DON'T GIVE A DAMN whether the nation needs genuine health care reform or not. They're not afraid that it won't work--as in 1993, they're afraid that it WILL, and that the American people will be grateful to the Democrats.
And the so-called "Blue Dogs" in the House and several "Democratic" members of the Senate are trying to give the Republicans the upper hand in the health reform battle.
I guess they don't give a damn either.
Steve Benen of Washington Monthly has the story here. And he gets it:
Republicans don't want to reform the health care system and don't want President Obama to be the president who finally delivers the overhaul Americans have been waiting for over the last several decades. The GOP has every possible reason to see this initiative fail, but that hasn't stopped some Democrats from a) insisting that Republican support for a reform effort they oppose is paramount; and b) making it easier to see their own party's efforts fail.
And J. Miller himself says, "How did I end up in a party in which so many of the "leaders" are working against the interests of the 75% of the American people who WANT a public option for health care and working for the interests of the Radical Right Wingers who are trying to destroy a brilliant and decent-hearted Democratic President? Why are so many Democratic "leaders" cowards and fools who are letting the Republicans get away with murder--AGAIN?"

What about the super-majority the Democrats have? It might not be quite a super-majority, I don't exactly remember what happened with the whole Joe Lieberman thing. But either way, shouldn't Conservative Republicans in congress have a very small voice?
Zach, the point of the Benen piece is the help the Democrats in Congress are giving to the Republicans. It is this very help that has raised by (in)famous ire.
Stop donating $$$ to the Dems Party until real health care is a reality. There is no way to give a single dollar and not have it help a bluedog Dem indirectly. Stop all donations to the Dem Party now. And let them know why!!
haha...I am amazed at times. You want government health care...???...ask the Canadians about theirs. You might just change your mind.....
OK, Anonymous 2. We'll take a poll of Canadians and see how many of them want to scrap their system and adopt ours. Wonder how that will come out?
Stephanie Miller's radio show announced the results of such a poll -- 92% of Canadians said they were happy w/their primary health care provider, thank you very much. Below is link to the story...
