Evidence of a Scientifically Illiterate Population

The depressing news is in the New York Times today.

It seems that a lot of Americans still can't get this through their heads: it does not matter what the majority of people think is true; all that matters is what is actually true. Just because a lot of people accept creationism as a "fact", it doesn't mean that there's a single shred of actual evidence for it. And there isn't. Not one. None. Nada. Zip. If people can't deal with that, I find it both sobering and deplorable.
