With the re-election of President Obama, I am now confident that the most radical forces of the Right-wing have been beaten back. Karl Rove, the original chief target of this blog, gathered hundreds of millions of dollars from shadowy, reactionary billionaires and threw this money into the effort to destroy Barack Obama. Rove FAILED. He tried to grab the Senate for the Republicans, and he UTTERLY FAILED. The President's health care reform will survive. The Supreme Court will be kept relatively stable for another four years. Sane people will be in charge of our foreign policy. Economic and social radicalism have been kept at bay. I don't pretend the road ahead will be easy for America, but I know one thing:
We've got a fighting chance now.
This election took it out of me big-time. I am 60 years old now, and I really don't think I can endure the emotional strain of neck-deep political involvement any more. My blog Romney the Liar garnered 185,000 page views. I posted some 300 items to it. I did what I could, while posting to this blog sporadically.
I am done. I am retiring from political activism. My family, my friends, my personal development, and my writing must now take my full attention. Politics has worn me out.
But I don't regret having been involved.
Thank you to everyone who has ever supported this little blog.
To everyone, I say, farewell.
J. Miller Rampant has left the building.

ROMNEY'S UTTER LACK OF CHARACTER SUMMED UP
From Steve Erickson at American Prospect:
Romney’s current troubles don’t stem from miscalculation or even a duff convention in Tampa but are manifestations of his own political character as heard and witnessed over the past half-decade. This is a man who has altered his positions—not modified, not tailored, not hedged, but utterly transformed—on every single issue from abortion to climate change to the health-care reform that he signed as governor in Massachusetts. Now he runs a campaign that doesn’t want to talk about his record as governor or as a financier and that refuses to put forth an economic alternative of any detail beyond building the Alaska pipeline and lowering taxes for people like himself, even as at the same time he won’t show us what he pays in taxes now or whether he pays taxes at all. His adamant hostility to revealing anything that resembles an authentic belief or credible strategy for accelerating the recovery is not only losing Romney the choice part of the election but the referendum part as well, as the Democrats succeed in making this a referendum on Romney, not Obama. Romney’s selection of Ryan was meant both to reassure the party’s base and bathe the presidential candidate in the glow of the vice-presidential candidate’s reputation as a man of integrity and candor. As evinced by the ticket’s appearances on this past Sunday morning’s news programs and Ryan’s speech at the Republican Convention, when he blamed Obama for a plant that closed during his predecessor’s term and for a Medicare cut that Ryan himself supports and for not embracing a debt-commission report that Ryan himself opposed and for the country’s credit downgrading that Ryan himself brought about as much as any single individual, it is truth-teller Ryan who bathes in the glow of Romney’s irrefutable standing as the phoniest nominee of our lifetime.

Hey Everybody! Guess Which Left-Wing Socialist-Loving Anti-American Supported THIS Platform!
“[We] will continue to fight for dynamic and progressive programs which, among other things, will:
Stimulate improved job safety of our workers, through assistance to the States, employees and employers;
Continue and further perfect its programs of assistance to the millions of workers with special employment problems, such as older workers, handicapped workers, members of minority groups, and migratory workers;
Strengthen and improve the Federal-State Employment Service and improve the effectiveness of the unemployment insurance system;
Protect by law, the assets of employee welfare and benefit plans so that workers who are the beneficiaries can be assured of their rightful benefits;
Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of Sex;
Maintain and continue the vigorous administration of the Federal prevailing minimum wage law for public supply contracts;
Extend the protection of the Federal minimum wage laws to as many more workers as is possible and practicable;
Continue to fight for the elimination of discrimination in employment because of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry or sex;
Provide assistance to improve the economic conditions of areas faced with persistent and substantial unemployment;
Revise and improve the Taft-Hartley Act so as to protect more effectively the rights of labor unions, management, the individual worker, and the public. The protection of the right of workers to organize into unions and to bargain collectively is the firm and permanent policy of [ours].
Give up? The radical leftist was named DWIGHT EISENHOWER. These statements are from the 1956 Republican Platform.
Ike wouldn't be welcomed in the Insane Asylum that is the modern Republican Party.

NASTY LITTLE PUNK PAUL RYAN HAS PROTESTERS AT HIS TOWN HALL ARRESTED
Notice how fast they got rid of the guy who shouted that he'd paid into Social Security, etc. for 50 years, and that it's NOT an entitlement.
Then nasty little punk Ryan waves at the people he's had arrested. People, by the way, that he forced to pay $15 just to hear him.
UPDATE: Arresting a 71 year-old man for telling the truth:

Hey! J. Miller! Why Aren't You Posting More?
The reason is simple: I am focusing my effort mainly on my election-year blog, Romney the Liar, which is right here. I urge all of you to visit it on a regular basis, and I further urge you to spread the word about it via Twitter and any other social media/email you choose. The time to define Romney as a lying sociopath--which he is--is RIGHT NOW. So I put my time mainly on this project. If you haven't seen it, give it a look!

Willard Doubles His Fun, Screws the Pooch TWICE!!
Looks like Leetle Ricky has beaten Mittens in both Alabama and Mississippi. Even better, Willard looks like he'll come in THIRD in each one. Congratulations, Willard! You managed to lose to a batshit crazy theocratic fanatic who thinks he has the right to regulate everyone's private life, despite outspending him 5 or 10 to 1!
Mittens, did you ever hear the expression, "They're just not that into you?"

Please Read. Absorb. React. And then pass it on.
It's in Andrew Sullivan today. It's called "The Politicization of Catholicism" and it's outstanding. One particularly chilling quote from a fanatical Catholic cardinal:
The cardinal mocked a secular culture that “seems to discover new rights every day.” “I don’t recall a right to marriage,” he said, describing marriage, instead, as a “call.”
“Now we hear there’s a right to sterilization, abortion and chemical contraceptives. I suppose there might be a doctor who would say to a man who’s suffering some type of sexual dysfunction, ‘You ought to visit a prostitute to help you.’ ”
This bastard thinks the right wing of the Catholic Church has the right to say that marriage isn't a right. (When the HELL did it become a "call"?) You hear that all you "evil" gays--this SOB thinks he has the right to make you a second-class citizen. He thinks that everyone should be forced--yes, forced--to live by right-wing Catholic rules. This is one of the same leaders of a church that tried to hide what is perhaps the most extensive child sexual abuse scandal in human history, daring to lecture us about how we MUST live according to his perverted beliefs. Read the whole piece, and then maybe you'll feel as I do:
These bishops and cardinals can go to hell.

Charles Pierce is AWESOME Today!
This is some of the best political writing out there, IMHO. Reading his account of Rick Santorum's lying, berserk, unhinged, lunatic, ignorant ranting to an equally unhinged ultra-right wing crowd in Idaho will make you tremble for our nation's future. It's also brutally funny. Recommended!

Rick Santorum is Insane
And no, I am not using the term insane figuratively.
Concerning the (completely dishonest) controversy over contraceptive mandates in the federal health care law, Little Ricky had this to say:
They are taking faith and crushing it. Why? Why? When you marginalize faith in America, when you remove the pillar of God-given rights, then what’s left is the French Revolution. What’s left is the government that gives you right, what’s left are no unalienable rights, what’s left is a government that will tell you who you are, what you’ll do and when you’ll do it. What’s left in France became the guillotine. Ladies and gentlemen, we’re a long way from that, but if we do and follow the path of President Obama and his overt hostility to faith in America, then we are headed down that road.
That's right you psychotic clown. We're on the path that will lead to the decapitation of religious people.
Santorum: a frightening right-wing authoritarian lunatic.
I don't know what else to say.

HAW HAW HAW! Willard Screws the Pooch MULTIPLE Times!
Looks like Little Rick "Frothy Lube" Santorum has won Missouri's non-binding primary and Minnesota's caucuses. He might even win Colorado's caucuses, making it 0 for 3 for Willard. After Mittens buried Gingrich in Florida under a ton of ads (99% of which--no joke--were negative) and won a super-low turnout caucus in Nevada, he thought he had it wrapped up. Guess not, Willard. (BTW, turnout in all three contests was wretchedly bad.)
Oh. And the crowd at Willard's headquarters tonight? 80.
HAW HAW HAW!
