With the re-election of President Obama, I am now confident that the most radical forces of the Right-wing have been beaten back. Karl Rove, the original chief target of this blog, gathered hundreds of millions of dollars from shadowy, reactionary billionaires and threw this money into the effort to destroy Barack Obama. Rove FAILED. He tried to grab the Senate for the Republicans, and he UTTERLY FAILED. The President's health care reform will survive. The Supreme Court will be kept relatively stable for another four years. Sane people will be in charge of our foreign policy. Economic and social radicalism have been kept at bay. I don't pretend the road ahead will be easy for America, but I know one thing:
We've got a fighting chance now.
This election took it out of me big-time. I am 60 years old now, and I really don't think I can endure the emotional strain of neck-deep political involvement any more. My blog Romney the Liar garnered 185,000 page views. I posted some 300 items to it. I did what I could, while posting to this blog sporadically.
I am done. I am retiring from political activism. My family, my friends, my personal development, and my writing must now take my full attention. Politics has worn me out.
But I don't regret having been involved.
Thank you to everyone who has ever supported this little blog.
To everyone, I say, farewell.
